Wow, we’re almost half way through the year can you believe it! We’ve had a wonderful start to the year with lots of exciting investigations that the children are getting involved in. For more info on what’s happening in your child’s room keep reading…

We're going green:

We are currently looking at ways to lessen our centres carbon footprint! We’d love some feedback about this. Have you any suggestions about what you think we could do? What do you do in your house?
Drop us a line & let us know your views.

We have some new Parents Committee Members

Joining Heather Hay in the Pre-school is Gina Brugh & in the Nursery we have Inbal Rodnay & Janine Sinclair. If you wish to get in contact with any of them their details are in the front foyer of each centre.

As teachers we are known to be the ultimate scavengers J & definitely live by ‘one person’s trash is another person’s treasure’. We can just turn anything into a resource, so please have a good look around home & work. In particular we’d love old buttons & beads & paper, thanks.

A message from the Nursery:

We are still having fun exploring light using the light table & coloured Perspex blocks. The children have also had such a wonderful time outside kicking the leaves, jumping in the puddles & running in the wind. We have also been very busy inside baking, shredding paper, dancing & painting.

A message from the Keas:

Our Keas have been dancing up a storm! We have been giving them lots of opportunities to explore different genres of music & it’s been wonderful watching their reactions & body movement’s change with the music.

We once again would like to thank all the parents who supported our very successful picnic to Glover Park – Brigitte’s just finished a wonderful photo album showing how much fun we all had, so please check it out

Vicki has just returned from a study tour to Melbourne she’s brought back some incredible resources & lots of amazing ideas, watch this space…

A message from the Tuis:

You may have heard mention of our new resource Lego, currently the ‘hot’ resource. It has provided hours of entertainment & challenges, the small pieces help develop fine motor skills while working through the instruction sheets requires much concentration. There are photos on the wall so check what fabulous things we’ve made.

News time – Each day the children are given the opportunity to share special news with their friends. Currently we are encouraging them to share special stories from home, this may involve a visit somewhere or exciting experience. We would love for you to let us know if there is something special for your child to share.

At a recent Supervisors Meeting we had a recurring discussion about the use of food as an art resource. By this we mean things like playdough, gloop, noodles etc. We would really love your feedback on this, please fill in the attached form & give it to either Vicki or Jackie.
