Mt Eden Staff Profiles

Kim Oliver

I was born in Masterton and moved to the Hawkes Bay in 2004 where I trained to gain a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. During my training I also worked at a centre to get comprehensive hands on experience covering all ages from 3 months – 5 years. On completing my training I was made Head Teacher of the Toddler House (2 year olds) where I worked for 7 ½ years before moving up to Auckland in 2011. During this time I become fully registered and continued to study to gain my Bachelor’s Degree in teaching. On arriving in Auckland I was lucky enough to be employed by Bear Park Mt Eden where I have had the privilege to work in both the Kea’s and Morepork’s.

My goal as an Early Childhood teacher is to develop a passion in each child to develop, learn and explore becoming confident and competent in all that they do. I have a passion for nurturing and building strong relationships with young children and their family by providing a safe & secure environment.

Petra Martincekova

I was born in Slovakia and came to New Zealand together with my husband in 2003. Since then we have had a beautiful girl Mia and I have completed my Degree in ECE. I have been working in Mt. Eden preschool for the last six years, building and extending on my professional knowledge, while learning alongside the children and other professionals. My passion is to work in collaboration with children, their whanau and teachers, bringing everyone together, while creating the best possible learning environment for the children. I have been lucky enough to attend a Conference in Reggio Emilia, Italy in 2011, which has only confirmed and contributed to my own beliefs about collaborative learning and development. I am passionate about fostering meaningful and respectful relationships between everyone involved in children’s learning. I believe strong relationships form the foundation for holistic development and a lifelong passion for learning.
